Difficult to get the car into gear.

My 02 Corolla is difficult to get into 2nd and 3rd gear.

I have been told it could be either, Air in the clutch system, a busted clutch cylinder or a clutch problem.

Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be and costs involved to repair it as I want to get an idea before I go looking for a repair.

The cost of a clutch kit depends on the engine fitted 1.4, 1.6 petrol or 2.0 diesel (or 1.8 petrol if its a 4WD). see here for indicative £ prices - [broken link removed] + shipping.

It could most likely be the Gearbox. An expensive item.
Not likely to be the clutch if only trouble with a certain gear. If it were the clutch all gears would be a problem.
