Did not have to put in key code on brand new Win 7

I bought win 7 and installed as you do when it came to look for key code I just pressed next in error and win 7 loaded perfectly, never had to put in the key code

There was no question just a point maybe wrong section to put,anyway figured out that after 30 days I would need to put in the code

Sometimes no need to input key as it's part of the installer package ... I've an Office 2007 installation that has a key on the box but it never asks for a key .... it seems to 'know' its key.
