claiming tax credits - 4 years?

I recently put in a claim for tax credits going back to May 2007. Yesterday I got a cheque from revenue plus amended tax certificates from 2008 to date.
Revenue seem to have backdated the credits to 2008 only.
Is there any reason why they would not go back to 2007 as requested or am i missing something?

Tax legislation states that a tax refund for a given tax year must be claimed within 4 years of the end of that year. Therefore, for 2007 tax year the deadline is 31/12/2011. You should call them and enquire.

You should maybe wait a reasonable time before enquiring as its rare enough for 4 years assessments/balancing statements to issue at once. You will probably receive the 2007 document within the next week or so, perhaps a little later. If nothing arrives, contact Revenure at that stage.
