hi,

i recently Rang the Revenue office to try understand if it would be possible to claim for Health Insurance TRS for my Child, as i pay his Helath insurcance through my company under a corperate scheme.

I currently get back E200 for myself, But my question is can i claim back for my Child if i am unmarried.

The Revenue told me i would need to marry the mother to claim this under irish law, to claim this back

sorry if this has allready been covered..

The information you have been given seems wrong. As far as I know you can claim for your children and dependants.

http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/reliefs/medical-insurance.html

Who can Claim?
A claimant who has paid a premium to an authorised fund or society on behalf of himself/herself, children and dependents and if assessed under aggregation his/her spouse.

The relevant legislation is here
http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1997/en/act/pub/0039/sec0470.html

And again contradicts the 'advice' you have been given.
