Civil Service Mileage Rates - Van

Can civil service mileage rates be used an employee of a company who uses his own van for business purposes? Or do the rates only apply to motor cars?

Does it matter if the employee is the also the director and owns all the shares in the company or is it irrelevant?

Vans are fine and Directors are regarded as employees so all fine there.
