Seems harsh.
When Newcastle were relegated in 2009, it was a job nobody wanted. He got them straight back to Premiership and has made a solid enough start.

Yet again, Newcastle turns themselves into a joke.
Feel sorry for the supporters here

He was doing a fine job and he'll get another job soon enough.

At least Alan Shearer isn't coming back!

Believe it or not RTE have him shortlisted as a contender!
That is prob just the rumour mill.

It is no wonder players and managers have no loyalty to clubs these days.

They had a couple of bad results since the win over Arsenal, but to have him sacked is just stupid. I think the owner might be afraid that if he does nothing now before the transfer window with a new manager then they might be relegated come the end of the season. The fickle world of the premiership goes on.....

Martin Jol resigns from Ajax today and betting was suspended soon afterwards

A very good coach, he'll do well at Newcastle if chosen.

Still, very harsh on what happened

Newcastle have been beaten by both Blackpool and West Brom who were also in the Championship last season. Newcastle are the soap opera of the Premiership with a ego centric owner. This is the club that dumped Bobby Robson after a few top four finishes and got them into the Champions League.

2-bit club still with delusions of grandeur....just like Liverpool FC..

:D:D

Shocking decision. What is scary is the number of premiership chairmen who seem to know absolutely nothing about football but stick their oar in anyway.
It seems Mike Ashley is looking to raise the profile (and value) of the club with a big name manager who can give the team a short term boost.
He already had a big name in Hughton who is very well respected in the football world. Ashley's blown it!
Another case seems to be Abramovich at chelsea. I really don't understand that one. he's got one of the world's best managers and he's trying to unsettle him.

Liverpool at least have the trappings of grandeur - 18 League Titles and 5 European Cups are not to be sniffed at - now if you had affixed a :D to your comment I would have understood.

The Toon's last major success was the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 and any comparison with Liverpool is quite frankly ridiculous.

Blackpool have beaten Liverpool and West Brom have beaten Arsenal so where does that leave them?

Two more members of the most hyped league in the world

BBC are reporting that Alan Pardrew is in line for the Newcastle job. I can't see how his CV is that impressive to warrant replacing Hughton with him.

Pardew has over 500 games under his belt, but limited Premier League experience.
He joined West Ham in September 2003 and guided them to promotion to the Premier League in 2005 before being sacked in December 2006.
He then joined Charlton on Christmas Eve 2006 but the club were relegated from the Premier League later that season and after failing to get promotion in 2007-08, he left in November 2008.

o'neill is too savvy to go near them. plus they have no transfer cash and thats why he left villa
apparently pardew is a friend of Ashley's and they met a few years back in a london casino. so pardew has bene bending his ear since...another cockney going north which will set the locals against him before he starts.
gone by easter
