Hi there,

We got a UV sytem installed in our well last year and the bulb is now due to be replaced. Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to get a professional to do this or can it be a D.I.Y. job ? We got a quote of €220 (for replacement bulb & labour) from the company who originally installed it.

Thanks,

Milly

The bulb is delicate and is in a quatz sleeve which may need to be cleaned.

Replacement bulbs shoud cost around €35-€50. You could get the bulb posted to you and replace it yourself but I reckon that you need a little more than average technical know how to do it.

Just a few points if you are doing it yourself. Dont touch the bulb as the grease on you fingers might attract dirt. Dont look at the light when it is shining as it could damage your eyes.

Most UV systems will come with a prefilter. This filter needs to be cleaned or replaced on a regular basis depending on how much grit it collects.
