Ceramic tiles discolouring

Hi,

An odd one for you ! We laid a new floor only last year with cream (natural stone effect) ceramic tiles. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that one of the tiles has become really discoloured and darkened quite a bit. It is the tile in front of the sink and the food prep. area so it does get heavy traffic. The surrounding tiles are fine. I have tried scrubbing it with CIF but no joy ? Have been back to the tile shop where they seemed quite surprised and are sending someone out for a look next week. Any ideas what might have caused this ?

Thanks in advance

sounds like a problem with the glaze on top of the tile.
check with the shop as to the PEI grade on the tiles.
this is how tiles are graded in terms of hard wearing they are and therefore where they can be used. PEI 4 is minimum i would recommend (i work in tile retail) for a kitchen.
