Car rental without Credit Card

I need to go to Italy on Monday and need to rent a car while there, however I do not have a credit card. Does anyone know if it is possible to rent a car without a credit card. My bank says there is no way they cant get one to me by Monday.
 
You are going to find it all but impossible to rent a car without a credit card in the main drivers name. It MAY be possible to pay a cash deposit or put it on a Laser/Maestro but check with the rental company first.
 
maybe if you are paying the full insurance etc, then there is no real point in them having your credit card to fall back on for damages etc,

as the other post says, you may be required to leave a cash deposit, that could be something like 1800 euro,

another issue for the car renatl companyies i guess is with out a cc then how do they recoup any parking fines etc,

best call a few,
