We need a second car for about two years. Having read the posts in the forum against new cars, depreciation etc in won't be new. Been looking around and feeling a bit shocked by the price of two-three year old family saloons. (Bought our other car with a cash windfall years ago. They've gone up a lot.) Was wondering about these options as alternative to straight unsecured car loan from bank, CU etc:
- asset-backed loan (secured on the car). Lower rate?
- leasing
Would prefer to sort the finance before approaching a dealer rather than sign up to their in-house finance offers. Who does these finance options? What should I look out for?
