I am coming up to 65 years of age and have 31 years PRSI contributions in Ireland. I am in the process of applying for the transition pension. I also have approvximately 15 years contributions in Canada and understand I will qualify for Canada Pension Plan. Does anyone know anything about a reciprocal arrangement between Canada and Ireland and how does this work?

As you are applying for your Irish Transition Pension at present you can simply include your Canadian details on the Irish application form and the Dept. of Social Protection will follow up your Canadian Pension for you.

This will be paid by Canada separately from your Irish Pension. Don't know the Canadian rates for 15 years service.

If you are 65 before September 1st your irish rate of pension should be 225.80 p.w. or if you reach 65 after 1st of September the rate will be 207.00
