Can you claim back from revenue for courses of self study you have done relating to work

Hi

Can you claim anything back from revenue for courses of self study you have done relating to your work


I recently did a management related course. It ran over 4 days and cost me guts of 1k. My employer isn’t paying anything towards this even though it will help me in my role for them. The course was run by a private training company

Can you claim back any tax relief from revenue for courses of self study you do yourself relating to your work ?

I seen something recently in IMI related course documentation about possibility of claiming back from revenue for course costs they run but not sure if that confined to certain bodies running courses and also for courses costing over certain amount and/or running for long period of time (e.g. 2 days every week for 6 months etc)

Whether or not the actual course you did qualifies, the first €1,500 paid in fees for part time courses is disregarded.
