Can you buy a toilet handle on its own?

When flushing the toilet this morning, the handle snapped in my hand. (Don't know my own strength etc.)

So I'm wondering if I can simply buy a replacement handle as it would annoy me to have to replace the entire cistern just for a broken handle. Are there plumbing supply shops that deal with the public? (Ratoath/Ashbourne side of Meath or Dublin.) I suspect that it might be a bit specialised for your average hardware shop.

yes they can be replaced, just a question of getting the correct replacement, they are not all the same so try take it out and bring it with you.

take it handy with any force exerted on any rusty screws/nuts, very easy to let something slip and crack the cistern, u may need wd40...

Same thing happend me recently and I got the handles from Woodies.

I tried to fit it myself but couldnt and ended up getting my plumber doing it.

Thanks all. New handle purchased in Atlantic. Looks like the right size. Fitting will be done shortly.

The breadth of knowledge on Askaboutmoney never ceases to amaze me.

Aj - the first of the videos is unintentionally funny. Apparently, replacing the toilet handle with a nicer one, even if the incumbent isn't broken "...can make flushing more fun!" The fun aspect of flushing a toilet wasn't something I'd given too much thought to, if I'm being honest.
