Hi all. I tried to buy some clothing for Xmas from an online shop based in the USA. They will sell to international customers but will not ship to Ireland. They suggested using an agent to get a US address and to use that agent for shipping purposes. They suggested one website which I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention on here. They charge ten dollars to join, will give you a US address and will then on receipt of the item forward it for a fee per kg. has anyone any experience of this ? Are there any benefits to buying clothing, shoes etc from the USA or will it just end up costing too much !

They'd want to be fierce cheap to start with, after paying shipping, possible duty, definitely vat and a service charge for clearance.

Well clothes and shoes do look far cheaper than here to begin with. Is VAT payable on arrival ? How is it calculated ?

23% of goods+shipping+insurance+duty(if payable).Also a clearance charge of €6 to 15.
