Buying new "one-off" house

We have just put a deposit on a new "one-off" house, questions are:

(1) Do we need a survey of the house once finished.

(2) As far as I am aware the builder is not homebond registered, what come-back do we have?

1. Yes

2. Have your solicitor get the builder's engineer to provide his professional indemnity insurance, he's the one that you will have comeback against if anything goes wrong. Your solicitor should also include some guarantees in the contract.
