Hi

I have added a business page for my business on Facebook

Trying to understand what people typically do for their business on facebook , i.e. do they setup a regular Facebook account or add a page like I have done.

Going down the route of setting up a regular account allows you to add friends whilst using the page allows you to run ad campaigns etc.

Furthermore, does anyone know if you can pay a few to get a decent address for the facebook page. The URL for the page I setup is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Capelli-Hair/210996788957348 . It is not practical to put this address on a advert on the counter. Ideally, would have something like [broken link removed] i.e. no numbers on the end

Thanks!

Facebook prohibits you running a personal page as a business page (minimal risk of getting caught though) - you have to create a business page if the page is used to promote a business.

Also if you friend a business/personal page then that page has access to your personal wall/photos etc. If you just like a business page, the business does not get access to your personal information.

There are also analytics on business pages that are useful.

Saying all that a lot of businesses do better posting on a personal page, a friend of mine had little success when she created a business page compared to her personal page - she's a dog groomer. It all depends on the business you are in.

Definitely don't set up a regular account (a Facebook profile) for a business. For a start, this is a breach of FB's terms and conditions, so they can delete your profile at any time. The chances of this happening are fairly low based on current practice, but who knows how they might change this in the future.

Also, smarter FB users are quite careful about who they will 'friend'. To 'friend' a business is to expose quite a lot of your life and information to that business. To 'like' a business page is a lot more of a hands-off relationship.

I think that's the wrong link. That's the link to get a short URL for a personal page (profile). To get a short URL for your business page, check out http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=900
