I was just wondering which would be more cost effective? I'm going to New York in February and was thinking of just loading my spending money on to a Moneybooker MasterCard and using that for purchases and money withdrawals. There is no fee for either of these transactions with this card. The question is really which is cheaper based on the exchange rate you would get in the bank plus commission Vs the exchange rate you would be charged at POS and ATM's in America? Thanks!

For that type of thing it may be cheaper to use a credit card. You would face fx fees of maybe 1.5pc plus cross border of maybe 1-2pc

You can be sure money bookers card is much more expensive, those cards have catches and monthly fees etc

It says it charges €1.80 for atm withdrawls and 1.99 % for foreign exchange. You have to be wary over there aswell as a lot of atm machines will also charge you too
