Budget Accommodation in New York

Daughter and 5 student friends are heading to New York hoping to get summer work.

Does anyone know of budget hotel or other accommodation they might use while they are finding their feet.

Have a look at www.airbnb.com, a site where people advertise rooms or apartments for rent, mostly for the holiday market.

Four friends of mine rented an apartment via the site for a week-long holiday in NY earlier this year, and the accommodation cost about €400 per person for the week, for an apartment in the lower Manhattan area.
