Born in Britain - Citizenship entitlements

A friend of mine is a yemeni, and was working in Britain on contract.

He has a daughter that was born in Britain in the late 1990s, and was wondering if she qualifies for citizenship ??


If not, what criterion needs to be met to qualify

I'm almost certain that just being born in the UK doesn't entitle you to British citizenship though. That was the case pre-2005 in Ireland but not in the UK.

I have 4 adult children who were born in the UK. They are as of right entitled to British Pasports, but I must confess that I have never checked out the issue of citizenship.
