birds in chimney

Hi there

I have birds in my chimney, just heard them chirpuring away this afternoon.
What the best way of getting rid of them? What's the worst that they can do up there?
If I light the fire would that get rid of them. Once I get rid of them I will get one of those things that fir over the chimney to prevent future guests!

If they are nesting in your chimney then you will need to at least get the chimney swept. On no account light a fire if they have already nested as you could set your house on fire.
