Best fixed rate for lump sum

I have a lump sum for investment over 18 months... your suggestions...? investec or Anglo?

hi fungus, how comfortable are you with investec. i have 20,000e to put in a account for a least a year maybe two. appreciate any advice you might have

Up to 50,000 GBP (about 57,000 EUR) is guaranteed by the UK Govt.

The company seems to be doing well and your deposit is guaranteed, in my opinion, you have nothing to worry about.

Certainly not Anglo. They only offer 2% for 12 months.

If you want a branch you can walk into Irish Nationwide currently offer 4.38% AER over 15 months. There's a report here that that rate is going to be ended effectively on Friday.

I'd follow fungus's advice and take the bet that 12 months from now interest rates being offered will have started to creep up again.
