Hi folks,

travelling to barcelona in late Feb for 2 night only unfortunately. Due to compressed timeframe, trying to get as organised as possible, hence any advice on most economic way to travel from BCN airport to city centre and a recommendation for a decent, basic clean and centrally located hotel would be much appreciated. If there are tips on must do's (albeit only having a short stay) either in the evenings or during the day, I'd be grateful for the pointers. Thanks in advance, fmmc

Airport bus takes 20 mins. With two days only the hop-on-hop-off tour buses will give you a good overview of most of the touristy good spots.

Heres the metro map for Barcelona. When we go to BCN, we get the train from the airport to Sants estacion and then get the metro from there to the station closest to the hotel we stay in. the hotel we stay in is in the business district so I dont think this is what you'd be looking for. One ticket is EUR1.40 but a 10 ticket book is 7.95 - great deal.

Just back and went to a nice fish restaurant called
You choose your own fish when you enter and they recommend to you how to cook it. Menu not in EN but the guys there speak really good english. You need to have a good idea what you want before you order. Its hard to know how many prawns to order - have you ordered too few/many? tomato bread and french fries were GORGEOUS! So was the Torres Reisling at EUR 19.90 - bit dear for Spain but worth it.

Got some good pizza in Happy Bar and grill.Very touristy - like an American diner menu but sometimes this fits the bill when your fed up of tapas!

Hope this helps.

For cheap transport from airport to barcelona:

As for accommodation, clean & very central I;d recommend H10 Catalunya Plaza Hotel. Within walking distance of everything. Rooms small, not suitable for kids, but very clean. Cafe next door excellent & very cheap for breakfast.

Also, check out tripadvisor for hotels & reviews.

Enjoy

Absolutely wonderful city to visit. You won't see it all in 2 days but it'll make you want to go back again. When we went there, we stayed just off Las Ramblas. Probably the most central area of the city. Great place to stay.

Hi Lex......you don't by chance recall the name of the hotel you stayed in? To the other posters, thanks for the replies.
