Bank a/c in North

I am due to start work in the North shortly and am finding it difficult to open a bank a/c up there,will still need my a/c down here as well,any tips would be great,Currently with B.O.I. and they do not make it easy,form filling etc.

Hi,
It can be difficult - thay are strict due to money laundering reasons. Wait to you start your new job and then make an appointment with a bank. They will have to send it to their head office for approval - should take about a week.

Also:
Apply for your NI number asap - this can take some time to get
If you are what is termed as a "frontier worker" you may be entitled to a medical card for the south.
Sterling rate is absolutely brutal at the moment - so good luck!
