Went with a broker for Avant 4 year fixed offer.

21 April - engaged broker

May to June - Took time to gather docs & made overpayments. Valuation done etc Delay more on my end if I'm honest.

22 June - AIP

6 July - Recieved loan offer

July - Add. Docs required to release funds. New life and house cover. Letter of interest to bank etc.

6 August - funds released

The most painful part of my process was:

1. Getting the docs together esp. whilst renewing or changing policies due to new valuation, expiry etc

2. Getting my solicitor to get their act together. They still havent sorted my redemption letter with existing lender. At this rate I may end up paying my existing lender and Avant in next 2 weeks. And they'll still charge me 1400 for their services. Joke outfit. The whole process needs digitised end to end - solicitors input included.

Good luck anyone about to embark on it - it's an endurance test!

My recent experience -
20 June - contacted broker
27 July - approval in principle
3 August - loan offer letter
24 August - funds released
30 August - previous mortgage redeemed (delay from old bank on issuing statement and title deeds)

We were pretty quick getting back on all requests, although holidays delayed things slightly. Very efficient solicitor also helps.
