does anyone have any experiences of staying in Atlantic City, New Jersey?
Am thinking of going there for a short while when I'm in New York

It's 10 years since i was there but I wouldn't think much of it. Nothing beautiful about the place, few big casinos along the boardwalk of a very narrow beach. If your going for gambling then it'll do the job but there's little else. The Jersey shore is only 3.5/4 hours from NY and is a much nicer area to unwind in, look up Cape May county. Wildwood is like a big version of Tramore and Cape May itself more toned down

Agree with rjr2 ... was there for a conference a few years ago - fairly depressing place I thought - pretty run down apart from some of the casinos .. which themselves aren't anything like Vegas and are mostly full of elderly people putting quarters into slot machines.

I certainly wouldn't go back - plenty nicer places around.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I only have a spare two days and don't want to stray too far from NY. Any nice areas around there (NJ coast sounds too far away) where one could chill easily?

why not long island, or the manahattan beach area, the hamptons?

or if not stuck on a beach then take a drive to the catskills, very pretty and relaxing

Spent a summer in Cape May and can't recommend - basically it's a big retirement village. Wildwood was a bit more fun, but also not my ideal.
