Assistance in nightclub lease issue

Can anyone provide some advice please on the following issue ...

We are looking to lease a nightclub, everything is in order, licenses, fire and safety certs and the club is in good overall conditiion, my question is if we lease the club do we have to go before the courts to transfer the license or get approval to reopen the club.

We will be keeping the current name of the venue and running as a ltd company

im not totally sure but i think the licence stays in the owners name.
