This seems a useful site, but is there any risk in putting my account details in here?

It asks for account number and sort code and I have to verify it with a captcha code.

Surely they must store the information that I enter somewhere?
What can somebody actually do with my account details should this site get hacked?

No, there is little or no risk.

Every time you issue a cheque or ask someone to transfer a payment to you, you are giving out this information.

Someone could set up a direct debit on the account, but you would see it quickly enough and get your money back.

I doubt they store anything from user input. There's no point in storing a load of random account number and sort codes. It's pretty useless data without the account holder's name at least, which you don't enter.

Sure, someone could man in the middle the thing and grab your account number & sort code but again, this info is written on cheques (and in Germany and other countries it's printed on your debit card and it doesn't seem to be a security risk...or they wouldn't do it).
