Hi all

I just checked my AIB online app and noticed a €1.80 charge for stamp duty.
I’ve never seen or heard of this charge on a current account before.
Is this a normal yearly charge ???

Thanks

Cash Withdrawls from ATMs @12c each, cheques if you write them etc.

The govt stamp duty per card used to be €5 but then govt changed to a per transaction charge of 12c up to a max of €2.50 for ATM withdrawls and i think card payments.

Then you will have to ask AIB - what kind of card do you have - ATM only or ATM/Debit card?

There may be payments that are assimilated to cash withdrawals. € 1.80 = 15 x 0.12

Absolutely zero chance of cash back.
If you use your card to buy stuff, you are charged 12c per transaction. If you use your card to take money out of an ATM, you are charged 12c per transaction. This is to an upper limit of €2.50 for ATM transactions, and €2.50 for other card transaction (like tapping, or chip&pin).

Stamp Duty is charged on cash withdrawals not for payments made by the card

These fees always existed, except it used to be a fixed fee per card/account per annum.

Credit card = 30 euro or 40 euro
Debit card = 5 euro

The 12c per ATM cash withdrawal with a €2.50 (ATM only card) or €5 (ATM and debit card) annual cap has been in force for 5+ years now so it's nothing new...
