FYI - One final kick in the........
Hi all. Just a quick one on this. We received our cheque this morning. Great excitement. Until my wife tried to lodge it. AIB sent a cheque with our two names on it, however we do not have a joint account. The bank teller wouldn't accept same. (The 1615 originally sent years ago was in two cheques)
So I rang 01 7715912 and spoke to a fella there.
If we want our money, we have to send back today's cheque (yes) and tell them (AIB) in writing, how we want the money to be paid.
This, for me, is the last last last straw with this bank. I mean, they have our records, they know we don't have a joint account, yet they operate this way.
Just thought I would flag this in case it happens to anyone else (assuming not everyone is still together with their original partner(s), or house buyers etc) and to save you the rage of being told by a teller in AIB that they cannot accept a cheque from AIB, to be lodged into an AIB account.
