Agent Fee

Hi,
I am just wondering what the normal agent fee is to sell/buy a house in Ireland.
I am looking to buy, and have been told by the agent that I will have to pay 2% of the purchase price.
This is quite normal for Dubai, but they are cowboys here.
In Australia the seller pays the agent and the buyer pays nothing.

By agent, do you mean Estate Agent/Auctioneer? If so the seller pays a percentage of the selling price and the purchaser does not pay anything.

Quite an assumption maybe they are cowboys in Dubai for charging 2% for purchasing
