This story appears in todays Irish Independent.

Here is the link -

" ALLOWING people to access additional voluntary contribution (AVC) pension funds could result in a boost to the Exchequer of up to €1.8bn, employers' group IBEC claimed last night. "

"IBEC called on the Government to change pension rules to facilitate the drawdown and said such initiatives had worked well in Denmark and Iceland."

Surely any such savings such as Pensions, AVC and PRSA's should be maintained and secured until time of retirement?

They seem to be recycling that article now every few weeks.

Thats a great arguement against the 0.6% levy too but that didn't stop them ransacking people's pensions.

What an absolutely crazy idea. Let everybody loose with their pensions now. Then what. Poverty in retirement. They obviously haven't heard of the pension time bomb, or the fact that the social welfare bill is so big and only going one way that all our state pensions will be gradually reducting to become a mere shadow of those that receive it now. Professionals in Greece are fishing food out of bins etc.
