Key Post UK State Pension - Make voluntary contributions to qualify for UK pension on top of Irish pension

I posted bank draft for 16yrs contributions in October. They have recieved it but allocated only for the past year, 2023-24! Rang them and they said they are still allocating and the remainder will be done sometime, so it seems they are allocating backwards.

    100,000 retrofit quote

That's what I thought Mick'r. By the way, do you know if there are any effective above-timber floor insulation methods. Read about Floor foam but not sure of it's efectiveness.

    100,000 retrofit quote

We have recently been quoted 110,000 for a 60's bungalow. External/Roof Insulation, windows, back-door, heat pump and solar panels. Energlaze said that 30,000 can be got in grants once it reaches the required BER. Nothing mentioned re the suspended timber floor!

    Care of apple trees.

Birds definitely do like apples! Like you we planted a few trees 3 years ago. Last year the Katja variety produced a nice crop, got to nearly tennis ball size and the crows wiped them out! Similar with Braeburn's, although they weren't as productive. Have a decent crop so far this year so also...

Recommend Regular Savings Investment for 25yr old

She is a teacher, so pension is sorted. Not a home owner, but who wants to be at her age, more likely in 10 years time. In the meantime, she needs to save and this approach (drip-feed into equities) seems reasonable.

Recommend Regular Savings Investment for 25yr old

Hi, My daughter (aged 25) wishes to open some sort of regular investment policy (equity-based) with a 10-year time horizon. From my searches, I came up with the Vanguard Global Stock Index through a Standard Life Synergy Fund, hopefully with the capacity for additional single premiums when...

Hi, renewal due: 2 adults @Laya 300 Essential (€1993)+ 2 young adults on VHI One Plan 250 (€729 + 639). Motor Will existing learner driver insurance apply now that test is passed?

In the same boat. My son passed his test on Friday. Zurich says they need a copy of his full driving licence before he's insured to drive on his own - so he'll have to wait a week or so.

Hi, I am trying to convert some GBP savings to Euros. GBP are in KBC Ireland Select Access Demand Account but KBC insist that the GBP can only be transferred to an account in my name, not to an intermediary such as Transfermate. Not sure where to go from here, possibly try opening another...

Hi, My wife has AIB shares since the early 90's (approx 2000 shares before the crash, now a pathetic 12!). Looking to sell what's left of them in order to offset capital gains on the sale of some land she shares (tax due approx 7k). Just wondering if it's worth it. Computershare said they...
