best tv/broadband package in Dublin 8

yashik - there are 2 Providers that bundle TV and Broadband outside of UPC. They are Magnet.ie and Homevision.ie . Both are limited to different areas, best to check their sites for availability and pricing.

UPC Phone & Broadband TV with Sky

okay so there is no discount for bundling but there is a penalty for not taking their TV- nice. Mind me asking - are you dropping their TV because of their box/menu? Are you using their HD box?

    Excessive Broadband Bill

alpine Absolutely get COMREG involved- Do I have this right - they have technical issues and cannot 'display' internet usage? but they can bill for over usage. Get the proof from Perlico first - Make sure they give you a ticket number for your complaint and pass this to COMREG.

UPC Phone & Broadband TV with Sky

Venice they don't give discounts for bundled services as far as I am aware- so just deduct the amount you are paying now for their TV service. if you want to compare all of their services in a table uchoose.ie have a broadband comparison.

Pay As You Go Mobile broadband - short term?

    - very difficult to recommend a mobile broadband provider as it's really dependent on where you plan to use it- Coverage and how many people are using that particular sector can make a massive difference to speeds - might be best to ask a neighbor :)) Dunno if O2 are doing the try before you buy...

Moving phone and bb from Eircom

Passport1 - I haven't posted enough yet I can't add a link to the cashbackireland site. I was just saying that it looked a genuine good deal- I haven't used it myself. Reckon people using any site offering rewards or cash should check for themselves that it's genuine.

    Receiving calls from 353 1234567?

yup - It's more than likely originating from voip software - which is difficult to track. Can you not block that number on your handset?

Moving phone and bb from Eircom

There's a deal on Cashback Ireland. It offers €100 cashback if you are ordering 3 services and your installation fee is waived. Money is paid once you are installed. The form where you place your enquiry with upc is co-branded so it looks genuine.

    Broadband at home??

Wouldn't recommend mobile broadband for gaming- You will have issues with consistent speeds. Magnet are probably best if you want something special - check out Bolt- you will need a landline for it though. If you want to avoid a landline- best to go for fixed wireless rather than Mobile...

Eircom Broadband upgrade - Is this acceptable practice?

Have to ask- What package were you on and what were you upgraded to?

Your fears confirmed: "up to" broadband speeds are bogus

I don't know about outlawing it- they have to show best speed available - Contention should be an important part of peoples decisions when purchasing- but now I reckon a lot of people don't even check- Hard to find/know true contention when providers hide it so well on their pages. there should...

    Satellite Broadband - any ideas?

thos is spot on Satellite can have massive latency and contention can run into the 100's:1 There are cheaper packages available than Digiweb, like skyadsl, but again hard to know what service will be like where are you based?

    imagine.ie no line rental???

seems pretty good June. I don't know of a better deal for telephone only- I know UPC do a phone only deal too- might be worth checking them out

Broadband signal interrupting - any advice?

Why don't you get the cable guy to prove that there is no problem on the main cable by plugging in the router outside at the connector- If it's working well then it could be that when you were getting the house rewired the cable got damaged. If it's still dropping - then it is a network...

Vodafone for landline and broadband. Any opinions?

There is no drop in the phone line service- Nothing actually gets unplugged at the exchange as Vodafone are in effect reselling the Eircom suite of products. Basically Vodafone send a transfer request to Eircom using the customers Account Number. If there is nothing outstanding, Eircom will...

    Sky multi room and landline

Depends- Did you buy the box through and agent or directly from Sky? I know there is a few agents that can 'cook' the box so that it works without a landline. It's not entirely unknown to Sky that this happens. That said if it was ordered directly from Sky, which I am guessing it wasn't...

Vodafone for landline and broadband. Any opinions?

Vodafone are the only ones that seem to have the new Next Generation Broadband suite of services that Eircom are rolling out- I don't see any of the others advertising it anyway. Vodafone don't have a line checker that will tell you if your line qualifies for the new service though- They just...

NTL: Every few days about 8p.m. we get a software upgrade where the box shuts down.

UPC have a couple of different boxes. The one I had first when I ordered their service was noisy and the remote only worked now and then. When I got in touch they first sent me a new remote, then upgraded me to their new HD box. Have to say - have not had any problems since- Agree with the...
