Hi! All, I've spoken about my work issues here. Thinking of taking job in UK in NHS starting salary 50k with 3 increments to 55k. As I'm in my late 50s - things like illness benefit etc matter should I need it. If I'm working in UK - Scotland and get sick and come home do my UK credits count for illness benefit in Ireland. I know the used to - when I came back to Ireland 22 years ago, I was entitled to the higher rate of maternity pay here based on what I had worked in UK. Don't know if being able to rely on UK credit for Irish benefits still stands after BREXIT?

Yes they do, benefits have been transferable between the two countries since the 1940s and that remains the case irrespective of Brexit to my knowledge. It is part of the common travel area agreement.

Thanks, Clubman and Mocame, that's really helpful. Another reason why I shouldn't be worried re move to UK.
