I am working in the security industry for the past 5 years. Since i joined the company i am paying 5 euro a week for uniform, this is quite a price for uniform when you work it out over a year. Does anybody know is there a cut of point when you should stop paying for uniform and can i claim this back on tax.

Re: Working in security

Cant understand how any company can justify you having to pay for your own uniform. Is any of this usiform regarded as safety wear? if so it is your employers responsibility to supply it to you.

hope this helps. And make sure that if you are entitled to an allowance, that you claim for the last four years. :)

Thanks guys. No none of it is safety clothing or shoes, just the normal shirts jumpers trousers. I thought it was a bit crazy myself. Thanks for your help i will check out that site

You should be able to claim tax relief on this. Contact your local Revenue office for more details.
