You run into a lot of the same problems - commercial operations in a property designated as residential, trade goods stored in a residential property will undoubtedly effect home-owner insurance, deliveries of trade goods to a residential address, packaging and shipping them from a residential property - all activities frowned upon by the local authority, residents, etc.... That's not surprising, people do all kinds of selfish things, particularly in rented accommodation, not caring about consequences for others.... I searched for my address and it looks like the previous tenant ran some kind of business from there also, I suppose he must have been doing so illegally? ...
