Hi

I have been offered a position with a US company. They have offices in the UK but have no business or office in Ireland. I will be working from home mostly.

Can they hire me from their UK office, even though I live in Ireland. I've heard of guys flying to London on a Monday morning and returning on a Friday evening, would my scenario be the same?

I'd appreciate any suggestions on this. I'd really like to get this position.

Regards

Hi Beta2, I also work for a US Company and work from home when not travelling. My company got in touch with a Dublin solicitor who is familiar with Irish employment law and they sent me the contract. I was happy with it and signed it.

Also my company use (& pay) a Dublin accountant and he basically pays me on behalf of my company. This means no self assessment, returns for the Tax office as all I get is my payslip and wages etc.

Good luck

Hi, I worked for a number of years in this country for a UK company in the same way that you mention. The contract and terms of employment were signed up front. They paid me gross every month and I paid tax yearly like any self employed person. The first year required some financial discipline, having been used to PAYE before I got this position but no big deal really.
