Hi all.
Looking for suggestions for interesting speakers for a breakfast meeting on work/life balance ... any suggestions would be welcome ... no matter how out there they are ... would love to get a fresh approach to the topic.

Many thanks

Hmmmm....a breakfast meeting on work/life balance.....there's your topic for discussion!!

Hi Henny,
For me the following topics add to work life balance -
1) Flexitime - being allowed to work your 8.5 hours within a broader time band, i.e. start anytime between 7am & 10am & finish accordingly
2) Work from home - if at all possible, facility could be there for a couple of days a week to save commuting time
3) Jobshare / part time policy for parents that want to spend more time at home with children

get onto your local IOSH committee [broken link removed] and they will be able to point you in the direction of someone. Alternatively contact UCD or DUC safety courses department.

Try the IMI - they have people there who can waffle on at length about this type of stuff.

Another good idea would be to talk to a life coach and ask them to come in and speak to your group.

I am doing a diploma in Life Coaching at the moment and there is a lot of factors involved in acheiving a good work/life balance.
It lies with both with the organisation, and the staff. The company need to know how important it is, and the staff need to know what it is!
then they need to work together to achive it.

Speak to a few coaches and get their thoughts..

Maybe someone who has is currently working on a flextime / home working type basis. How they found moving from 9 - 5 to flexi....what are the challenges etc...would also be good if you could get that persons boss to talk about how the employees working life has changed ...do they work more, do they seem happier etc.

Maybe you could get some contacts from the National Womens Council might be able to help? Funny how you always associate flexitime with women

Or the Manager or MD of a company that has a good approach to work/life balance. Maybe one of the 'top 10 companies to work for' ?
