Hi. I have a 7 ft dead tree in front lawn of my town house. I didn't take it out though. I put wire mesh around the bark and grow sweet pea every summer. I t climbs up, hiding most of the tree. Neighbours have commented, saying it's a good idea...

Now that summer is coming to an end, I'm wondering is there something similar I could plant for winter cover?

Hi Liza, I love sweet pea and honeysuckle,
It's not easy to find a winter flowering climber for our climate..
I tend to let my garden sleep during winter
I came across this for you, hope it helps

Winter Jasmine, Jasminum nudiflorum for winter
Mention the word Jasmine to most house owners and they immediately think of the many products with the essence of Jasmine, which reside within their homes.
The plants wonderful heady scent is used to infuse everything from room fresheners to scented candles.
Jasminum officinale, the summer flowering Jasmine provides us with that glorious scent, whereas its close relative Jasminum nudiflorumshuns summer fragrance in favour of a dash of winter colour.
Appropriately enough, because of its winter showing, Jasminum nudiflorum is commonly known as Winter Jasmine.

Thank you. I will look into the winter jasmine. I think I know the flower... white... Really pretty.
Mmmm... Maybe something with a berry then?
I like that phrase... Let it sleep

No, it's a lovely yellow flower, run a google image search for winter jasmine and you will see it.
Lovely! Something with berries would be great for the birds.

Just looked it up there. Very nice. Will look into the berries option too. Thanks
