Will not in Probate Office

Should Will documents be in the Probate Office after a few years?

Is there reasons why it should not be, I cannot see why it should not be there as a public document.

Can anyone help?
 
What country are you in? In the past not all wills were held in Dublin. Are you sure there was a will?
 
Probate may not have been extracted, not uncommon in these straitened times, especially if there is cash and willing beneficiaries.

Has a death cert been organized, thats the first step
