Get it sorted out and pay it, you will definitely be caught out for it (along with interest, penalties and even possible prosecution) as you are on record with Revenue already as actively trading (VAT retuns) so it just a matter of time.
If you never traded previously then you have until 31/10/07 to submit your tax return, otherwise you have until 31/10/06.
