Will I be charged fees on my debit or credit card for euro purchases while abroad?

I am travelling abroad to a euro area country in the summer. Say I use my PTSB debit or credit card to pay for a restaurant bill. Would this transaction incur a fee?

I know this is a very basic question, but I can't find a clear answer. Everything seems to be about foreign exchange fees. Can anyone point me to clear rules that apply in the case of PTSB or other banks?

No, other than any normal fees you pay per transaction.

If you have a PTSB Explore account, paying 6pm, but with no transaction fees, then the answer is no.
