Widows Pension & Struggling

hello, I am writing on behalf of my mother. She receives the Widows pension of 190 euro and has been made part time recently of only 3 hours a week ( 42 euro in total)as a home helper (by the hse). She resides in a county council cottage of which she pays a rent of 63 euro a week. She is now really struggling money wise, even though she is in her sixties, she would like to keep working the few hours she has left. However, my question is; does anyone know if she may be entitled to any benefits? And is her rent very high for someone on such a low weekly income? thank you all.

She needs to request a review of her rent based on her reduced working hours. Bring current payslips and evidence of her widows pension payment to the council and ask them to review her rent. Council have no way of knowing her income is lower unless she tells them.

She appears to be on a reduced rate of widows pension. Is there a reason for that.

Perhaps she may be entitled to a portion of the Jobseekers Benefit
