Hi,

About six months ago a learned that MBNA were a subsidiary of Bank of America so I decided to close my Credit Card account as I have problems with their corporate policies. Anyway, I paid off the balance and got a letter of closure and that was fine, two months later they started sending me increasingly threatening demands for money for no apparent reason. Ignored them initially but now I intend to take action, I believe that technically they are guilty of a number of offences but before going the legal route I would like to register a complaint with the relevant governing authority. So does anyone know who that is?

Thanks,

Usjes.

Would this come under the remit of the financial services ombudsman?

I think you may find the threatening demands are the result of a crossed wire and an automatic issue of documentation.

I'd put in a call to them directly and not leave threatening letters without any response.

Before going to the Ombudsman, you need to go through their own internal complaints procedure.

You haven't really given us a lot of information to go on, however.
