Hi,

In the process of renovations and cleaning double glazing. The frames ara white and the windows on the inside are clear silicone. They have black markings from I think traffic. Also the white frames are while not black, but dirty from the car fumes. What is the best way to clean this.

Would small amounts of thinner be ok?

If it was me I would use CIF (previously JIF) because its not too harsh. Would be nervous of the thinners.

Google threw up this.

I'm tempted to suggest baby oil from another thread. :)

There is a point at which seals etc may have to be replaced for appearance and this is long before their useful life expires.

CIF with scouring pad (not a brillo!) and a dish of warm water to rinse the pad will bring up the white and remove the traffic grime.

You can buy specific stuff for it in Woodies, upvc cleaner or something, I bought some a while back, used it once, hard enough work but it did get off the black dirty marks. I used always use Cif but the windows were particularly dirty after a bad winter, lot of soot type marks on them as well and the Cif wasnt really getting it off.
