Which is cheaper? Launderette, or central heating to dry washing?

Hi all,
With the rainy weather recently it's been hard to get clothes dry after washing. I was wondering if anyone had any opinion or experience of whether it works out cheaper and easier to bring clothes to a launderette (not self service) and get clothes washed and dried rather than washing them at home and hanging them on clothes horses. Clothes horses either take longer to dry them or if the heating is on to dry them it could work out more expensive. My local dry cleaners takes bags of clothes (once they are seperated into darks, whites etc) washes and dries them, starting at €12.50 for up to 10lbs and then prices against the weight. Whereas drying at home if the weather is rainy means electricity used for washing and then heating used for drying. It might not work out much cheaper or as easy as just dropping off a bag of clothes at a launderette.

Just wondering why you say this? Does it cause dampness or just bad for the rads?

Causes dampness and in some cases mould. No release for all the water, hence the filter on tumble dryers without condenser. I'm a fresh air finatic since we had a problem long ago with condensation/mites. Always try to leave the windows open for an hour a day at least. I know this can be hard in winter time if you are out at work but I feel most houses need it. I read a study some time ago also about a fresh flow of air can help anyone suffering from asthma.

You have to work out how much washing you do a month and then multiply it by 12 for a yearly figure. then work out how much in euro that costs. After you have done this you will feel better about just buying a dryer now and not waste any more of your money on a launderett. Dryers aren't that expensive.
