Where to look for a cheap car?

I have family coming over for a visit and they will be staying for a month. This is a family with 2 small children. As I have a hatchback and my husband has a commercial, there is no way that all 7 of us (4 adults and 3 small children) would ever fit into my car.

I am considering buying a small car for our guests to use while they are here and then it can be given away for all I care. Can anyone recommend a dealer or a good auction?

I have looked on carzone, autotrader and gumtree but feel a little bit funny about dealing with anyone who posts an ad in txt spk.

Renting is the way to go.

Afterall spending, say 1,000euro (or less) on a banger + insurance + possibly road tax, you will not have peace of mind as regards reliability and/or safety. Also you will have the hassle of disposing of it later.

IMHO, its a "no brainer" when you can rent a '09/'10 Ford Ka or similar including insurance for less that 500euro per month,
