Where to go for a Scenic window regulator?

Mrs. F. has a 1999 Renault Scenic. The driver's electric window stopped working today. She brought it to Renault Blanchardstown who quoted €498 to fix this, being €350 for the "regulator" and the rest VAT, labour etc.

This seems excessive to me, but maybe I'm just out of touch. While I can see the value of getting the major service items done by Renault for a service history etc., I'm not too bothered about a simple fix like this.

Anyone know are there independent window motor repair people out there? Web search brings up lots of windscreen replacement places but this is not such a thing.

By the way - I know some of you might suggest a DIY job using a scrapyard, but I know I would be utterly incompetent in that regard and would probably end up fitting a Bunsen Burner into the door instead of the motor...

For what it's worth there's a Renault specialist garage/mechanic/scrap place on North King Street near Smithfield which might be worth checking. My father used to get all his Renault related small jobs done there so they must have been cheap! ;) If you turn right off Constitution Hill/Church Street onto North King Street then it's on your right just before you get to the Cobblestone Pub (also on the right) and the main Smithfield cobbled area (on the left).

As LD suggested a scrap yard maybe in order.
First though make sure it isn't something as simple as a fuse.
I would also suggest rining a motor factors or equivelant.

For the want of a few basic tools socket set maybe a meter to test for power and a few screwdrivers this is a reasonably easy diy job.

Once changed a full door inards after a respray including leccy windows and locking mech.

The crowd I'm taking about supply spare/scrap parts but also do the work themselves if you want.

I know the place clubman

Thats where I picked a spare door for a renault 19 about 9 years ago.
They were sound then.

It has a big Renault sign over the door made from two non-matching old signs (!). I can't remember the name but can check later on the way home if you want?
