Where to get these LED energy saving lights?

Wife tells me Duncan Stuart was promoting these [broken link removed] on his program during the week. Apparently they said if you replace 10 existing "low voltage" lights in your kitchen with these you can save €350 per year. This would be fantastic as I have about 40 throughout the house.

Question is, where can I buy 2W LED Superbright bulbs in Dublin and any idea (ball park) of the cost?

Thanks
Roy

220-240 Volt LEDs are available too. 2W Superbright is currently an oxymoron. Do not believe the claims about a 2W LED being as good as a 50W incandescent. The best 4W ones are closer to 25W equivalency and the colour isn't as broad a spectrum.

I'd get them on-line rather than buying locally. All the lights I've seen for sale here are very dim compared to the best ones available.

WOW!. Thanks GZ, I'm amazed that Duncan Stuart would be taking such claims at face value and promoting same on that basis. Can you point me towards any wesbites where I could buy these?

Thanks
Roy

I bought several of the individual 60 LEDs per light from [broken link removed]. They have about half the brightness of a 50W incandescent at best.

Since then they seem to have introduced 78 LEDs per light and "High Power LEDs" which claim to really be as bright as the incandescents. Those latter ones are hideously expensive though, €44 a go.

I've no affiliation with that site.

To fit these energy saving bulbs did you have to do anything to the fittings you have, my downlighters have individual tranformers and an electrician told me that the transformer will have to be disconnected to use the energy saving bulbs.

I would be very interested in changing to them as bulbs blow (most are 10 years old now so I am expecting them to start blowing anytime).

Thank you

To answer your question you can get Ecopal in Eurosales.

Yes they are not as bright as 50w halogens lights. The way we look at it is if you plan x10 50w lights in a room, up the number to x14 of the 2w Ecopal. You are only using 28w of electricity as opposed to 500w.

By balancing the number of lights you will not notice any major fall off on the light levels. They are not super white coloured light, they are slightly warmer.

Last purchase was €8-9 + vat per lamp.

They are a GU10 bulb and will not fit transformers fittings. You should be able to re-use the lamp fitting but will need to remove the transformers and put GU10 tails on the wiring.
