Hi.
Any ideas on where I might get rid of my old cast iron bath which I removed recently. It has been sitting in the front garden for the past few weeks where I hoped it might be spotted by a passing scrap metal collector but to no avail.
Regards.

What about architectural salvage yards near you? These get re-enamelled in the UK and re-sold for big bucks; very much in demand pre-crunch.

or turn it into a big planter...

Salvage yard the best bet, no good for scrap metal.
Maybe a farmer might take it off your hands for a water trough.
Funny seeing a herd of cows drinking out of a bath...!

I agree with JMRC approach a local farmer and they should be only to willing to come and get it.

If you're in Dublin put it on Dublinwaste.ie's freecycle. [broken link removed]. Anybody who wants it will take it off your hands but you won't get any money for it. Although you will know that it least it's been recycled.

Last year I got rid of a bath, basin, toilet, kitchen sink unit, window and back-door. I would have had to get a skip to throw them out which would have cost me, instead I saved the money and they all went to people who were glad to have them - and who collected them from me.

Two things if you are putting up your bath on this site though - make sure you put it in the correct category, and also make sure you put up a picture (otherwise you'll never get inquiries)
